For months, I thought I had a hidden gem from which I stole all of my great ideas. Outfits, party planning tips, hair styles, recipes …everything!  People would compliment me on my choices but I would not reveal where I found them. Well, it looks like the jig is up! I have been seeing my “secret” site popping up in all of my newsfeeds and it is now one of the most highly trafficked social media websites.  So, here goes nothin’ …. I will let you in on my best kept secret (until now) this past year – the best website to aid in planning your wedding (or anything to be honest!) Pinterest! This website will help you with ideas and themes that you may have never thought of.

Ok, here’s how it works – you must be invited to join Pinterest. It is like a super exclusive club. (not really, but I can pretend) There are two different ways you can join – request an invite from Pinterest itself or have someone who is already a member invite you.  Once you are a member, you will see that they have organized all of the “pins” by category so it is really easy to find what you’re looking for. Basically, you look through the images and you pin what you like to a virtual board. You can create different boards to organize your pins.  Similar to Twitter, you can follow people who share the same interests as you.  This allows you to see what they have been pinning.

Specifically, if you look in the Wedding/Events category you will find ideas about every aspect of a wedding: centre pieces, hair styles, favours, jewelry, shoes, photo ideas, party planning (engagement, bachelorette) … I could literally go on forever!  The best part is every image that you pin contains a link with information about that topic. So, if you pin a pair of shoes that you love, you will be able to click the image and it will lead you to a website or store where you may purchase the shoes. It literally does all the work for you!
