Sunscreen never goes out of style

Sunscreen never goes out of style

One thing that hasn’t changed in my 26 years in the aesthetics world is the importance of sunscreen.

Treatments have evolved. Technology has advanced. Ingredients have become more sophisticated. But sunscreen has always remained the most important step, not only for anti-aging, but for the overall health of your skin.

It’s the one product I will never stop talking about or recommending.

Why SPF Matters More Than You Think

When most people think about aging, they think about fine lines and wrinkles. But the reality is, so much of what we see over time; pigmentation, uneven skin tone, texture changes, and loss of elasticity , is directly related to sun exposure.

Daily SPF is one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect your skin, maintain your results, and support everything we do in the treatment room.

And beyond aesthetics, it’s about protecting your skin long-term.

Chemical vs. Physical Sunscreen

One of the most common conversations we have at the spa is around the difference between chemical and physical sunscreen.

Simply put, chemical sunscreens absorb UV rays and convert them into heat, while physical (or mineral) sunscreens sit on the surface of the skin and reflect those rays away from the skin.

Neither is necessarily “better”, it really comes down to your skin, your lifestyle, and what you’ll actually wear consistently.

Some guests love a lightweight, invisible finish that layers seamlessly under makeup and feels effortless throughout the day. Others prefer a mineral-based option, especially if their skin is sensitive, reactive, or post-treatment.

Both have a place, and both can be incredibly effective when used properly.

SPF Has Evolved Too

One thing I love is that sunscreen has also evolved over the years.

There are now beautiful formulas that feel elegant on the skin, lightweight lotions, tinted SPF, powder SPF for easy reapplication, and options designed for everything from sensitive skin to active lifestyles.

At the end of the day, the best sunscreen is the one you will wear every single day.

My Advice After 26 Years

Don’t overcomplicate it.

Find one that feels good on your skin, fits into your routine, and becomes part of your everyday habits. Because consistency is what protects your skin, preserves your results, and truly makes the difference over time.

If there’s one thing I wish every guest would do, it’s wear sunscreen every day , even when it’s cloudy, even in the winter, even on the days you’re “just running errands.”

Your future skin will thank you for it.

“The best sunscreen is the one you will wear every single day.”

If you’re not sure where to start, we’re always happy to help guide you toward the right sunscreen for your skin type, lifestyle, and goals.
